IPE Ltd equips Radio Botswana's new broadcast centre

IPE Ltd, UK based radio and audio systems specialists have successfully completed a project in conjunction with Dega Broadcast Systems to equip Radio Botswana’s new Broadcast Centre in Gabarone.

IPE provided consultancy and systems integration for the project. The system was designed and completely pre-fabricated at IPE’s premises in the UK prior to shipping and installation in Botswana. The radio station broadcasts two simultaneous services to Botswana and surrounding territories, and is preparing to add a third.

The audio facilities included:

  • General purpose (GP) suites
  • Master control Room (MCR)
  • Six Continuity suites
  • Three News Studios
  • Three editing areas
  • Music Recording Studio.

The project included integration of the following equipment:

  • Harris Legacy and digital airwave audio mixers
  • Euphonix – audio mixers
  • Radioman – playout, media management and archiving system
  • Quartz – audio routers
  • Telos – phone-In systems.

John Chalmers, IPE’s Managing Director said "Radio Botswana showed our capabilities to manage substantial overseas projects, and to collaborate closely on the ground with the customer’s technical and operational staff. IPE’s normal practice of extensive prefabrication was a significant factor in achieving a rapid on-site installation time."
